Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
