Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I know Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in big stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
