Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While betting on web poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I believe Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in cash rounds?
