Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers anywhere in the world. While wagering on online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amount. I believe tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in money games?
